Today we were given the task to film a film titled "the exchange". For some stupid reason we decided to do an action film and after a couple of minutes without thinking we realised that action films are incredibly hard to film and make realistic given the time and quality of equipment we have. I went out looking for cast members and we came across Matt Say and we all collectively as a group had a great idea. we could dress Matt all in black and ask him to wear his moped helmet and ask him to mug Kyle as we have him and Laura have an exchange of a briefcase. in our video we were only allowed to edit in camera so it didn't turn it too well. However we were able to see what we shouldn't do in our horror film, we were able to learn from our mistakes.
Today we looked at 3 different opening title sequences: The woman in Black, Them, and The Ring. We took notes on these horror films
There were lots of different things in each horror but also some similarities, Both The Ring and Them have slow tense build ups to the horror however Woman in black starts straight away with an effective quick opening title sequence that grips the audience and makes them think.

Today we filmed our prelimanary task and used shot revers shot and stuck to the 180 degree rule, in our prelimanry we lernt about mistakes that could be made with continuety. we learnt that it takes many shots from lost of different angles to make the shots look fluent. we also learnt that using a tripod is vitak to keep the shots stright and avoid any shaking. I learnt a lot from this as i am going to be the person filming our horror so this task was a very important learning experience for me.
Today we watched The Grudge and made a storyboard of the opening title sequence, we did this to help us understand what a storyboard must consist of and that it has to be clear and easy to read, it was quite challenging as we had to write down everything involved in the shot; shot lenght, Camera angles, Camera movemnt, sound, whats actuallly happening in the shot ect. This will help us in the future for when we have to draw up our own storyboard as we wil be able to make it clear and easy to work from when filming.
Today we watched the opening title sequence to different horror related films/ tv shows, We watched the opening title of Seven wich was very good as it was different from a lot of OTS as it was non-linear so it gripped thecaudience straight away and made them want to watch it. We also watched the OTS of the tv series Dexter, this was a very good OTS as it showed Dexter's normal morning routine but also had many Horror and killing related inuendo's in it, this showed the audience that Dexter was a serial killer posing as a normal man. This OTS is obviouly very successful with the udience as Dexter was a very popular show that ran for 8 seasons and never had to chage its OTS at any point.

Today We decided on a loacation to film, Kyles dads house is avery good location as it is an old house with lots of land outside and it is isolated away. it is up a road where there are very little houses and it just feels like it is cut of form the rest of society. He has a very long corridor which will be perfect to use as for an off kilter shot of the victim walking down.

Today we filmed at Kyles dads house but we have realised that it is not a very good place to film our horror film so we willl not be using the shots that were shot there as they do not work with what we want. We are thinking of filming at Claras house because it is also old and has the type of corridor we need, her house should be perfect for what we need to do.
Today we edited the first part of what we filmed at Kyles dads house, we do have some shots that we are able to use as they have the right scary atmosphere but there are parts of the house that look very modern which take some of the scare effect away. we will definitely have to film somewhere else.
Today we filmed the first part of our horror film at Claras house, we were able to film a very good and a very effective series of off kilter shots leading to a false scare. We also filmed some stuff that we have later realised are not very effective as the lighting is very pooor in some of the shots becasue it is way to bright for an effective horror, there is no sesne of atmoaphere in the OTS, which means when a scare does appear it is not scary.

Today we filmed some interviews for our website; these were us asking people questions like: what is your favourite genre of horror? and why? What is your favourite horror film? and why? And are there any horror cliche's you ca think of that you dont like? we recieved a number of mixed responses that will help us make our horror film as scary as possible and will be able to use the cliches that dont annoy people and avoid the ones that do annoy people whne they watch horror films. We have filmed these in fornt of a green screen so we will be able to edit it in a background that is relevant to what we are filming, this will help us with our editing skills also.
Today we recieved feedback on the footage and editing of our OTS, we recieved some good feedback like;
- The off kilter shot as very good
- The false scare was effective
we also recieved some negative feedbck
-The lighting was poor
- The dialogue was cheesy
This feedback will help us a lot with making our OTS as good as it can be.

Today we look at all the shots we have filmed and looked at our feedback and it has become obvious we have no option but to re-film most if not all of our shots because the lighting is not close to scary enough.
Today we did a lot of work on the website we did a lot of the planning page.
