The Theory Side Of Media...Today we started practicing filming. We chose the genre of action and used different shooting angles and which were the most effective. We also started thinking and discussing what we are actually going to do for aout title sequence. I quite like laura's Idea for the title "There was no light". I think we need to start thinking about where we will locate out title sequence and think of possible ideas next lesson. Today we are working on the website. all out videos that we have made are now on youtube. All we need to do now with them is get them on our website. The next thing we need to do is start planning what we are going to do, with places and props etc... I can't wait to start filming. |
One of the things we have learnt in Mr Edwards lessons is about Camera Angles. We were taught how different angles can show a persons power. For example a high angle can show dominance where as a low angle shows submission. A birds eye view is good for an establishing shot, a example of this would be showing a city then zooming down onto one person or place to show the importance of that person or place, doing this would show where they are and set the scene for the rest of the movie. These will be good to use these in our Opening Title Sequence as they will tell the audience who has the important role and create a better more interesting outcome.
Another thing we learned that if you don't have to use just camera angle to make it interesting. you can combine both angles and shots give off a better impact. for example, to show the emotions on a victims face of a killer you would use a close up combined with a high angle to show the vulnerability of the victim. This interacts with the audience as that can see the victims emotions. We have also learnt about camera moment and what effects it can have on the audience, here are some examples:
Today we watched our practice film again and discussed the Do's and Don'ts about filming. With Our group the class said out camera shots were good and our different scenes. But also our actual story line was effective because it was simple. The only downside was that we didn't plan before we went out and started to record. We also learnt how to upload our videos on to Youtube and post them on the web site. Next lesson we will be getting our practice films ready to go on youtube and our website. I think our project is going well, we knows what makes a good horror movie and we have a few ideas what we are going to do. |
To day I cut and edited our task. The lesson before we learnt about the 180 degree rule with filming, also in out other classes we have been learning about camera angles. This has been helping us as we can now create effective scenes. Regarding our trailer we have finally decided on a idea, however we still don't know what to call it. I was thinking something along the lines of "The Dark Within".
Today me and Laura recorded a short film with and without sound. We asked round and found out what sounds people found scary. The results were dripping water, creaking and slamming doors, wind, storms, heart beats and screams. we incorporated most of these in out short film to show the effects they can have. next lesson I think we will start experimenting with other sounds and what effects they have. all in all I think it is going well. We have all decided that me and Laura are going to be acting in our OPTS but I will also be helping with the filming. We still need to do a bit more audience research, but we have a rough idea of what we are going to do. I'm looking forward to continuing with this project. |
We are now all planned with props and costumes ready. We are recording this saturdsay and sunday at kyle's dad's house from 3 till 9. We found it best if one one or 2 people edited the final one as those people know exactly what to do. I found myself editing most of it and adding opinions from the other members of my group. After all the hard work I have finished and edited it together completely. I showed it to the rest of the group just to make sure it is perfect and if they had other idea I could add in. I looked back over it and added some flashes to the jump cuts as I found it made it a lot more effective and keeping the audience entertained the whole way through. It took longer than expected to completely edit it together as we had to retake shots and fit them into what I have already edited. As I have spent mostly editing the OTS I have found it hard to do a lot on the website, however I have done my best to keep up and add things in where needed.

Over all I think out opening title sequence has been a success. We have had ups and downs with the location and dialogue, but we have brought it together quite nicely. All in all, I have really enjoyed making this and I hope the rest of my group have too. I hope you enjoy it :D
